Arrived in Kakamega

Well here we are.

Got up at 4am and headed to airport after a pineapple brekky. The food here (at this guesthouse)is gross and should be easy to resist. I succumbed to disgusting cold beans.

Easy but expensive ride to JKI airport. Beauty 1/2 hour flight to Kisumu over the Rift valley and lake Victoria. So cool 10%, signs of deforestation 90% .

alinda from Cedar Foundation was waiting for us with driver. Had a eye popping crazy driving experience all the way. Saw too much to describe. Very much like India. We pulled over a couple times for pictures.

Reached dusty Kakamega at 10am and Alinda showed us our place. Much nicer than home, with our own houseboy and security guard. Went to the market and found this internet cafe. Some serious poverty here.

The lost boys or street boys are numerous walking around dirty and bleary-eyed with their noses stuck in a bottle of gas.

Spoke to the desk builder, he will turn out 6 desks a week. Tomorrow we visit the principal of the recipient school. It all looks legit...so far.

Met a guy , our driver from Kisumu to Kakamega, who will take us on Safari for half the price we were earlier quoted. We still have details to sort out.

It is VERY hot. A drought is on.

This has been a very condensed version of day 3. Much else was seen and learned. We are off to buy some fruit for dinner. Papayas and pineapple.

We have more checking around to do, then an early evening run for moi.
